So I had already identified that the iPad wasn’t going to revolutionize my life or make me dump my laptops, but I figured it was worth checking out especially as I found myself squinting at my iphone night after night. I still used my laptop in the evening but much of my computer time was spent on the iPhone. So impressions:

Like
So much nicer then squinting at my iPhone. So much.
Battery life
Nice calendar interface
All iTunes things transferred on sync
Keyboard works ok, still making mistakes and having to backspace or hold/move the cursor to fix things
It’s “snappy” to use, just like they said

Don’t like
App store is harder to browse, especially for free apps
I bought in the US and live in Canada, so had to setup a “free” US account just to access App store…this will change
Most Apps are still in iPhone format….this should change

I was tentative about buying it, but overall it’s taking over from my iPhone, for home use anyways, which was taking over from my laptop for most tasks. Amazingly, my laptops are now becoming my “desktops”, that is I will leave one at work and one at home….the iPad travels with me between locations or around work/house while the laptops generally stay on my desks, and everything resides in the cloud except media (videos, music and photos). But I really think it’s my iPhone use that is going down. I think I will upgrade to the 3G iPad once the Canadian plans have shaken out.

So run out and buy one? If you’re a techie sure, or getting ready for a new laptop but otherwise just wait to play with it at the Apple store, and definitely wait for the 3G versions

Sure is nice to use this sucker though….
